Responsible for editing, developing, and maintaining online course and related web content. Supports staff, development team, and instructors in the development, integration, delivery, and revision of courses and web content. Ensures educational, and accessibility best practices are implemented and upheld, while also meeting high quality standards and ensuring functionality
in all course offerings. Oversees multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously and supports the growth of the learning organization by generating innovative ideas and strategies to foster enhanced learning experiences.
Representative Duties & Responsibilities Design and develop courses in collaboration with instructors, subject matter experts (SME), Program Managers, the development team and other stakeholders. Revise and maintain courses to ensure offerings are current in subject matter and best practices for online education and digital pedagogy, as well as ensuring functionality of all course components. Research and present on a variety of digital teaching tools within the learning management system (LMS) that support course development, learning, and assessment. Write code in a variety of programming languages. Understand, articulate and document project vision and scope. Perform detailed quality assurance testing for all deliverables for instructional soundness and interaction design, as well as functionality testing. Research and evaluate educational technologies, educational technology applications and online course materials for use in higher education. Collaborate with educators, instructional designers, technology services and other stakeholders to produce innovative solutions for academic courses and training. Advise and recommend to instructors, instructional designers, and other stakeholders on the incorporation of educational technologies, delivery format, resources, etc. Provide specialized instruction, training, advice, and guidance to various stakeholders regarding the use of specific educational technologies, LMS, and other emerging tools and services. Determine, recommend, document and provide support with project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies and evaluation plans. Integrate content and configure courses in LMS and third-party tools. Ensure that on-line content complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and copyright law. Adhere to predetermined delivery schedules and comply with established style guides. Write and develop training materials and learning resources on the use of educational technologies, LMS, and related tools and copyright and accessibility guidelines. Schedule, attend and lead meetings. Provide technical support for instructors related to the regular maintenance and revisions of courses within the learning management system in use. Administer the instructor support account by providing detailed instructions and support, resolving technical issues and scheduling trainings based on need requirements. Participate in project planning, including determining timelines and deliverables for the design team, discussion options, and identifying instructor’s needs. Proactively address problem areas related to usage of LMS by recommending effective and appropriate solutions.
Representative Duties & Responsibilities Create and disseminate surveys to determine instructors training needs. Develop and maintain database of instructional design and online learning resources. Ensure course instructors, staff and other stakeholders are advised of system updates, errors and features associated within LMS. Liaise with Avenue Support through the MacPherson Institute on behalf of users regarding problems and technical issues with the LMS, user accounts and issues, and other various requests. Build consensus on course development and revisions with internal and external stakeholders. Participate in stakeholder, SME, and instructor interviews conducted by Program Mangers and Coordinator, as needed. Remain current with frequent developments in the field of digital pedagogy, online teaching and learning, education technologies and instructional design.
Supervision Provide functional guidance to others on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications 3 year Community College diploma in Graphic Design, Web Development, Instructional Design, or related field. Requires 3 years of relevant experience.
