Day in the life:
Reporting to the Chief Stores Officer, the Vp, Creative & Visual Merchandising is responsible for setting the merchandising vision and strategy for the Hudson's Bay brand, ensuring effective in-store planning, signing, and exceptional merchandising strategies to meet financial targets.
This role will actively support our DE&I framework by identifying opportunities to increase and promote diversity in our teams, products and brands. They will lead with inclusion to nurture our OneTeam culture by removing barriers for our Associates and communities.
What you will do:
- Set merchandising vision and strategy for the Hudson’s Bay brand through visual direction, effective in store planning, signing and exceptional merchandising strategies to meet financial targets, including revenue, margin and inventory metrics
- Establish and consistently communicate merchandising objectives in support of Hudson’s Bay strategy and business objectives
- Lead key brand meetings and drive strategic conversations related to the business objectives of attracting and engaging the customers’ social and experiential in-store experience
- Develop and lead the overarching creative & visual merchandising strategy for stores
- Actively monitor and adjust to market, trends and competition
- Develop direct reports and team members, effectively provide direction to the team, and manage performance
- Define organizational structure and actively retain/recruit talent
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams to profitably execute financial targets as well as review and direct financial plans
- Represent division on cross-functional and cross-company initiatives
- Establish service-oriented enhancements to draw traffic with tailored merchandising programs
- Act as a strategic thought partner for business unit leaders and teams; identify strategic opportunities to shape specific work plans, and drive the planning process.
- Collaborate with internal partners to align with the larger company merchandise strategy.
- Leverage external partners / vendor relationships to support deliverables cost effectively.
What you will need:
- Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design, Retail Business Management or a related field
- Must have 8-10 years of Visual Merchandise Leadership experience
- Must have 8-10 years of retail creative and visual display experience across different commodity groupings
- Experience as a senior level Creative / Visual Merchandise Manager with 10 years experience.
- Ability to oversee 20+ employees and motivate the team, and to delegate effectively and manage performance, as well as to recruit top talent
- Proven ability to inspire and collaborate with internal teams of cross-functional departments within merchandising, store planning, store operations, among others, to support and establish visual strategic objectives
- Successfully developed and executed strategic visual merchandising initiatives and plans
- Demonstrated leadership skills required
