What is the opportunity?
The Business Transformation group is dedicated to enabling business opportunities through collaboration and delivery excellence of strategic Capital Markets initiatives.
We are looking for an eager and high performing individual to ensure all PMs to follow the PMO standards, and use the tools to actually reduce project delivery risk across the portfolio. This position will plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed in a timely manner on key initiatives.
What will you do?
Primary Responsibilities:
Improve executive insights into emerging project risks through better portfolio reporting and by establishing new governance meetings
Guide the project/portfolio planning, monitoring and controls function, including intake of new proposals and execution of the triage, prioritization and approval processes to move projects through the Investment Review Board and Project Approval Meetings
Act as a liaison between business departments and Technology by educating stakeholders about planning practices and regularly identifying areas for improvement
Lead the quality assurance program and routing of Project Change Requests (PCRs)
Position the PM CoE as a trusted partner by striving for excellence and communicating with conviction
Develop new processes, standards, best practices, tools and techniques using a risk-based approach in partnership with the CM PMO.
Maintain a strong understanding of the PMO landscape in RBC and ensure the Capital Markets COO group is represented accurately in target operating models
Produce program portfolio status reporting and at the Executive level to ensure goals and objectives are clearly and consistently communicated across all teams
Analyze project and portfolio data, develop metrics & benchmarks, and provide insightful and accurate reporting to support management decisions
Drive the development of dashboards to highlight trends, changes and potential risks/issues in the portfolio.
Develop and coach junior staff to deliver against business priorities
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
University degree or equivalent experience
Over 10 years experience in the following:
Understanding of data management practices
Project Management, Business Analyst methodology, Risk Management, Audit and/or Financial Services industry
Resource management
Negotiation, facilitation and presentation skills with strong experience preparing PowerPoint decks
Expert level communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to manage and coordinate across numerous stakeholders in various areas of the organization
Comfort with analysis and analytical processes and basic tools such as Excel, Tableau, SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA
Quality control
Cost / Benefit analysis and alternative identification
Conflicts and issues resolution and escalation
Nice to Have :
Understanding of CM business and structure
Previous people management experience
