JOB SUMMARY:
This position ensures the seamless execution of Mohawk Mountaineer home game and event delivery by being on-site at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre and other home game venues such as Mohawk Sports Park and Redeemer University College.
This position acts as the representative for Mohawk College by supporting coaches, players and athletic therapists and upholding the rules and regulations of Mohawk College and the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be available and visible on the field or court as official Mohawk representative at least 90 minutes prior to the start of the game or match, during game or match and until all teams, officials, and fans have left venue.
- Ensure facility is setup for the appropriate sport and match and ensure clean up and tear down is completed for each facility.
- Ensures all camera and streaming regulations meet OCAA standards. Upload statistics to the OCAA portal through Presto Sports at the conclusion of each competition.
- Optimizes risk management by communicating and interpreting Emergency Action Plan and OCAA Sport Rules and Code of Ethics to coaches, officials and players as required, assisting athletic therapists and coaches with execution of site Emergency Action Plan and determining in that playing conditions are safe in conjunction with officials.
- Assists with larger, department-wide initiatives.
- Maintain crowd control before, during and after the game/match(be proactive about fan behaviour).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants for this position should possess:
- A minimum of a two year diploma in Athletics Management or any related experience in the field.
- A minimum of three years of experience as an athlete, official, or coach.
- Conflict resolution ability.
- Customer service skills.
- Sports acumen.
- Knowledge of sporting protocols and sport rules.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
