The Unit Manager, Legal position is a full-time permanent employment opportunity based in our Toronto office.
As the Unit Manager, Legal you will be one of the key members of the Toronto Legal Claims management team responsible for leading a team of Law Clerks, Legal Assistants and Administrative Support.

You’ll also handle many key responsibilities:
Oversee the day to day responsibilities of the Law Clerks, Legal Assistants and Administrative Support employees
Establish and communicate clear performance objectives and continually measure the progress on the attainment of these objectives
Ensure a high level of employee engagement by continually monitoring overall engagement and creating and executing engagement action plans
Facilitate regular team meetings, one-on-one’s and huddles to ensure the two-way flow of information
Assist your team in understanding and applying policies, procedures and theories
Plan and implement office systems, as well as organize office operations and procedures
Lead the recruitment process including but not limited to the interviewing and selection process and the onboarding of new employees
Participate and lead project-based tasks as assigned by Director and/or VP Legal Claims
A university degree, college diploma or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience
8 to 10 years’ experience, preferably in a litigation legal environment, within the Insurance industry
Previous experience leading a team

Positive attitude while adapting to changing priorities and taking ownership of work
Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
