In this 6-month opportunity as an Underwriting Assistant in our Commercial Lines department, your work will have a big impact within our underwriting distribution department. People will count on you to deliver Intact’s legendary service by analyzing, selecting and processing risk in personal insurance to contribute to a profitable portfolio of business.
This role will offer you the chance to:
Develop and build your skillset in insurance and underwriting where your learning will continue to evolve and grow in this ever-changing industry
Provide winning customer service by solving problems, using your strong communication skills, and providing forward thinking solutions to the team and to brokers
Through your natural curiosity and the support of your manager and team members, you’ll also learn and handle many key responsibilities:
Process insurance policy renewals, endorsements and cancellations
Prepare new business for input into our systems
Review account information, communicate changes with accounts, confirm policy information, discuss coverages, options and payment plans
Support the underwriting team by answering inbound phone inquiries in a timely and professional manner and perform some outbound calls
Review select underwriting reports and establish required action based on authority level
Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously
Minimum of one (1) year office related experience
High school or college diploma
Working towards the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset
Legendary customer service and relationship building skills
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritise work
Proficient data entry skills and strong attention to detail
Exemplary written and verbal communication
Computer proficient with the ability to navigate through multiple systems
