The University of Windsor’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering invites applications for two (2) Three-year positions at the rank of Lecturer commencing as early as January 1, 2023. Technical communication includes the ability to communicate in written and oral forms, information relevant to Engineering, and other related technical fields. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidates will be expected to have a relevant graduate degree (English, Communication). A background in Engineering or Science would be considered an asset, as would teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) certification. The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and are expected to become familiar with engineering graduate attributes, the University’s Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and other writing support services on campus. The candidates should have an established record of exercising initiative and possess knowledge of university polices on the principles of anti-discrimination, staff and student equity, occupational health and safety, harassment, sexual violence, and other relevant legislation. Candidates will also be committed to principles and practices of equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion, to anti-racism, anti-oppressive or social justice education.
The successful candidates will be expected to provide comprehensive technical communications instruction and support through the entire engineering curriculum, but focussing on teaching and supporting the introductory, graduate level technical communications-related course as well as providing training for GAs/TAs. Successful candidates will assist in coordinating and overseeing technical communication/writing initiatives and supporting other instructors involved in communications/writing in various engineering courses. The successful candidates will also offer writing workshops, drop-in sessions to engineering students at all levels as well as and provide seminars/short courses for graduate and undergraduate students focused on thesis, report, and career-oriented communications.
