ABOUT THE TEAM
The Taxation Group supports the private and public market investments in tax M&A and tax compliance activities. This role is purely related to tax compliance activities.
The Taxation Group is located in Montreal and in London. This role is based in Montreal.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Director, Taxation, the incumbent will be actively involved in various aspects of domestic and foreign tax compliance, for PSP and its affiliates.
As a Technician, Taxation, you will:
Manage requests for tax documentation (e.g.: FATCA, CRS, W8, residency certificate) on a timely basis
Provide, or coordinate the provision of, all information required by external advisors in the performance of their tax compliance mandates
Follow up with various internal and external stakeholders in obtaining various tax information returns
Assist with, or coordinate, the preparation and/or review of Canadian tax returns and select foreign tax returns
Review correspondence received from tax authorities and respond on a timely manner
Provide support with respect to commodity tax matters (e.g. sales tax registration, filing of GST/QST returns, sales tax audits)
Coordinate the remittance of provisional and final tax payments to be made by PSP entities
Assist in the annual tax provision calculation by rolling forward/populating the tax provision computation tool and generating the final tax provision reports
Ensure all tax documents are properly filed in the document management system
Manage responses to queries from internal and external stakeholders on a timely basis
Contribute actively to the maintenance and improvement of tax tools and tax compliance processes
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Strong computer literacy including advanced working skills of Microsoft word, and Excel
Strong organizational skills
Team player
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience in a relevant field is not mandatory but considered an asset
Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
