Rogers is currently seeking a talented and experienced person for the role of Senior Development Manager on the Digital Wireless Commerce team reporting into the Director, Wireless Commerce Delivery. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced development team responsible for the delivery of an exceptional online customer experience. You must be able to dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering.
What you will be doing..
You will be working with the product team to create a new Digital experience for Chatr customers. You will play a pivotal role with our product and cross-functional teams, bringing the e-commerce experience to be the benchmark for others in the industry. You will lead and shape digital products for web platforms from infancy to adulthood.
You have experience creating and delivering web applications and services and want to apply this in a creation of a new platform. You care about the team culture. You are comfortable with complex large-scale systems and have numerous years of experience in this space. Technologies in use will span a varied stack from Angular based front-end, to Java services on SpringBoot deployed using Kubernetes, and others.
What you will do…
- This role is accountable for end-to-end delivery of features, enhancements and projects on the Chatr self-serve, retail and call centre web applications.
- Be a liaison with the channel owners, product owners and all operational teams impacting the delivery, review requirements and oversee architecture and determine implementation plan
- Be the overall Technical Delivery Owner supporting the team
- Provide estimates and high-level solutions as part of project life cycle
- Manage one or more technology teams to deliver strategic deliverables
- Govern and optimize delivery processes for the teams
- Build relations and work with cross functional stakeholders
- Represent the technical team in various stakeholder meetings
- Present team progress and related metrics
- Will be responsible to establish a code quality processes for delivery, code control and sustainability – governance and enforcement of best practices
- Implement a strong development culture
- Implement processes, best practices, and tools allow for multiple paths of delivery. i.e., create simplified, consistent, reusable, efficient and flexible solutions
- Provide estimates and high-level solutions as part of project life cycle
- Recommend improvements and drive alignment across the Digital landscape for Rogers
- Manage partnerships with external vendors and accountabilities from those vendors to Rogers
- Inspire others to adopt the new processes and improvements based on program retrospectives
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent alternative education or experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in working with all aspects of software engineering, including coding, architecture, and network engineering.
- 3+ years of experience leading teams and co-ordinating deliveries across many verticals towards a common delivery
- Experience working in Agile/Scum/SAFe delivery models
- Strong technical thinking and demonstrated ability to lead software design and coding in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Angular, React or JavaScript.
- Strong organizational and estimation skills with ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with product and business leads, with the desire to understand the true source of the problem/opportunity - and ability to propose alternatives back with the pros and cons.
- Working knowledge of key technical concepts such as modern backend applications, cloud-based systems, web services, Kubernetes and container frameworks, etc.
- Knowledge of any enterprise catalogue and Content Management System will be an added advantage.
