WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
In RBC Tech Labs we are driven by curiosity in how we use the newest technology like Augmented Reality or ChatGPT to discover exciting business opportunities to drive real value at RBC. We work on fast and short engagements to investigate, communicate, pilot and graduate these technologies into the business.
We are looking for someone with excellent delivery skills to help us organizing and driving the day to day work to maximize our impact.
We have 3 primary areas of focus, each with a small team leading. This role supports all 3 although 90% of the work is with the first 2;
Immersive Technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D displays and more)
Generative AI (ChatGPT, Action transformers and more)
Quantum computing (this will be less of a focus for this role initially)
These technologies are going to have a major impact on the world around us, and this role is going to be highly influential in shaping the way RBC engages with it.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
The Tech Labs Delivery Lead will take the primary role in driving the delivery of the work through these teams. This includes;
Defining and continuously optimizing the delivery process to be effective yet lightweight
Working across the teams to break down the sprint objectives into work at a useful level of granularity
Driving the delivery of the sprint objectives, managing risks, removing blockers and ensuring the right priorities on day by day basis.
Ensure that key milestones / events are in the sprint roadmap and that there is a coherent plan to achieve them across the sprints.
This is a hands on delivery role. The expectation is that this person will be deep in the weeds, understanding what the deliveries are, how the work needs to be broken down and driving it over the line.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
Proven experience managing agile delivery in a small team environment without a large agile program around you
Proven ability to dive into the detail and get work structured. In some environments this might overlap with the product owner – this role needs to be able to build some of the detailed stories behind the clear sprint objectives.
Demonstratable technical curiosity and ability to quickly come up to speed with new technology
Proven ability to build strong relationships with teams that we rely on to help accelerate dependencies (eg infrastructure, security and procurement)
Proven ability to use observations and retros to continuously and collaboratively improve the way we work
Highly flexible attitude, as part of a small team with a rapidly changing pipeline of work, every day is interesting, but we can’t guarantee any particular tech / task
Able to work globally (team is across UK / Canada, internal client base is global)
Nice-to-have
Experience working in an Innovation team
Experience in Immersive Tech or Generative AI
