What you’ll do
Reporting to the Manager, Space Planning, the Team Lead will provide leadership and support to a team of Space Planning Specialists throughout the POG build process. The successful candidate will work closely with the Space Planning management team as well as the Merchandising Teams to build strong in-store programs that support the Category strategies and role. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who possess solid communication and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be comfortable with developing and fostering multiple relationships across the organization with strong experience in space planning and customer program development.
Provide leadership and guidance support a team of Space Planning Specialists through POG build, keeping all stakeholders informed of issues that may arise causing timelines to be compromised.
Understanding and interpretation of key POG metrics including sales and margin
Daily management of POG production schedule/quality to ensure timely submission to RCQC team for processing. Weekly management of Line Review on time reporting
Collaborate with Fixture and POP teams on requirements to support merchandising strategy
Sign-off on all merchandising metrics, fixtures and POP requirements with SPS using the POG checklist, ensuring 100% accuracy. Ensure delivery of quality planograms to make in-store programs easier to execute, drive financial results and improve customer experience. Ensure adherence to visual merchandising guidelines.
Build select O and V POGs for all relevant sizes to established timelines and quality targets
Support prototypical floor plan development for new/existing store concept; support/develop/launch new in-store experiences along with other initiatives
Leverage various internal groups and committees such as Associate Dealer Committee to obtain feedback to improve the shopping experience with customer focused POGs
Attend Pre-planning and Kick-off meetings to support the line review process, providing guidance to SPS on presentations, ensuring timelines are accurate and applicable cross functional team are engaged. Ensure meeting outcomes are captured and tracked
Conduct post-mortem with the Merchandising teams as required on line reviews or business categories
Contribute to the Art of Merchandising to increase team knowledge and POG quality
Lead department projects related to Space Planning and contribute to the development of new merchandising programs
Maintain knowledge of the competitive retail landscape, Marketing Strategies and Retail Operational best practices. Conducting research, providing insights and leveraging an understanding of the competitive landscape for appropriate Planograms, categories, brands and consumer trends
Responsible for the appearance of the Retail Floor and respective Line Review rooms. Ensure SPS is adhering to sample process guidelines
Identify process improvements, operational efficiencies, and training opportunities along with supporting the launch and change management of new tools and process with the team
Work with stores to resolve inquires in a timely and professional manner, including corrections to planograms and floorplans when required
What you bring
Post-secondary education in a similar or related field
2-3 years of space planning experience with proven ability to manage multiple complex designs
Solid understanding of Canadian Tire merchandising philosophies and Associate Dealer best practices.
Proficient in MS Office suite especially Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Demonstrated leadership skills and people management
Proficient with JDA Space Planning
Excellent communication skills in both written, verbal and in presentation settings
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well and influence decision making across all levels of staff.
Must be able to physically assemble floor fixtures (light to heavy weight)
