How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Systems Integration Product Services, as a Systems Integration Architect, you will architect services associated with Ciena and third-party elements for applications including broadband access (XGS-PON), virtualized edge, SD-WAN, 5G, and optical transport.

You will drive multiple aspects of the practice, including capability development (technology, tools, and processes), presales solutioning, and successful delivery of customer projects, providing value to our clients with excellent customer experience.

• You will be a practitioner of architecting solutions with hands-on skills.
• You will define and create best-in-class capabilities of the practice for solution design, implementation, validation, and support including solution life-cycle management.
• You will provide technical and commercially aware leadership to scope and design systems integration projects including architecture, project resourcing, and other elements of industrialized offerings along with well-defined project-specific statements of work (SoW).
• You will play a key role in guiding and influencing technology partner and ecosystem relationships.
• You will prepare project requirements including presentations, solution descriptions, top-level designs, and other documentation, sharing knowledge with colleagues and facilitating alignment among internal product teams, industry partners, and other collaborators.
• You will create content and lead sessions on architecture design, implementation planning, and proof of concepts (PoCs) and provide insights to optimize our strategy, tactics, and roadmaps.
• You will participate in industry forums and communities as required.

The Must Haves:   

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, coupled with extensive experience working in the information and communications technology (ICT) field with responsibilities in systems engineering, services solutioning, product/service management, consulting, or systems integration delivery roles. Direct experience as a solutions architect or enterprise architect is preferred.   

• Expertise in ethernet and IP networks is required: network design, routing protocols, L2/L3, MEF, network function virtualization, and network security.
• NMS/EMS/OSS/BSS operations and service assurance knowledge is valuable. 
• Design and implementation experience in one or more of the following solutions:  broadband access (GPON/XGS-PON), SD-WAN, SASE, virtualized edge, or Private 5G.
• Familiarization with hypervisor technologies and software for building and managing virtualized services: OpenStack, VMWare, KVM, Linux, Kubernetes, and public clouds (eg AWS, Azuree, or Google Cloud).
• Understanding of DevOps and agile development methodologies.
• Demonstrated thought leadership along with corresponding work products such as white papers, presentations, published articles, and blueprints.
• The ability to travel to support customer engagements around the world.

Assets:

• Master of Science or MBA.
• Ciena Routing & Switching, Cisco CCNA, or other industry certifications.
• Experience with cloud-based deployments (eg. AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
