What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager - Standards, this position is responsible for the various technical, administrative and coordination functions associated with the Design Standards Maintenance Program for the maintenance, review, development and approval of TTC Design Standards. Provides technical support during the different phases of the Design Standards revision process. The incumbent supports the Standards area of the Technical Support Section to review and analyze Design Standards revision requests, to define the revision scope, to coordinate among the various stakeholders of the revision task from inception to final approval, and to keep the participants informed of the status. This position is also responsible for coordinating updates to TTC Design Standard documents including maintaining, creating and revising CADD Standard & Directive drawings as well as formatting and performing administrative checks to Master Specifications, Design Build Master Specifications and Design Manual documents. Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment and helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies. What Qualifications Do You Bring?
• Completion of a post-secondary college or university degree program in a related discipline such as engineering, construction, architecture, or the equivalent, combined with several years of related experience in multi-discipline projects.
• Good technical knowledge in the area of technical specification writing, and construction contract documents.
• Strong skills in Word and Excel, proficiency in Access; good knowledge of PowerPoint.
• Good knowledge of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design disciplines, their practices and interrelationships, especially as related to a transit environment.
• Good knowledge of design and construction practices and methods, their applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Good English language spelling, grammar and proofreading skills.
• Strong service orientation; sound judgement, and demonstrated ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
