The Opportunity
The Staff Housing Coordinator will provide overall operational and administrative support to all staff and artistic faculty living in Banff Centre accommodations. This position is responsible for maintaining professional, welcoming living conditions while performing a variety of tasks pertaining to the day-to-day operation of Housing and coordination of departmental activities.
Specific Accountabilities
Reporting to the Director Staff Housing below are some key accountabilities:
- Responsible for understanding, communicating, and enforcing the rules and regulations as outlined in the housing policies for all housing accommodations.
- Responsible for monitoring the Housing emails in a timely manner, booking move in/out appointments, answering general inquiries.
- Work with the Director and Housing Supervisor on room assignments and maximizing occupancy.
- Provide a welcoming and professional housing environment to all residents. Check Staff and Faculty in and out of Banff Centre housing as required. Provide new residents with a comprehensive orientation of the building in which they will be living and review the policies and procedures for their housing.
- As the main contact for residents for non-emergency repairs, determine the need for maintenance for all housing and ensure the completion of necessary repairs.
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate occupancy database and will assist with rent revenue control, deposits, keys, reimbursements, and balancing cash outs for all areas of housing.
- Perform cleaning inspections, and organise the cleaning of units in preparation for the next incoming resident when needed.
- Perform minor maintenance, janitorial duties, cleaning, and some moving and lifting where necessary, and any other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Educational Requirements
- At least one year of related housing experience
- Completion of high school diploma
- Highly detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Able to effectively handle competing priorities, take ownership of duties and show initiative
- Strong personal integrity with an innate desire to work in an ethical and confidential manner
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure
- Proven warm and sincere verbal communication
- Ability to provide superior customer service
- Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently
- First aid and CPR certifications, or willing to obtain
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- WHMIS training in handling, storage, and use of cleaning products
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs when assisting with luggage
- A valid driver’s license/clear driving record
Special Requirements

Due to the nature of the job, this position may require the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
- To Ensure a seamless check-in/out procedure due to staff and faculty arriving at various times based on their travel schedules and program start dates, hours may include occasional weekends, after hours or holidays.
Employment Terms & Benefits
- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
- This position pays between $18.44 and $19.36 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a regular schedule.
