Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Are you a senior developer interested in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)? We’re developing IT systems automation to remove human error from our IT operations at a massive scale. With this automation we’re transforming the way systems are built and operated to enjoy the same benefits as modern born-on-the-cloud companies have achieved.
As a senior developer, you will work in a small agile team to quickly solve common problems that enable numerous other teams to easily develop reliable automation. You’ll work closely with operations, platform, and DevOps teams to ensure we’re developing the right automation that meets the needs of our operations and development teams. We are looking for top notch developers with a good understanding of operating systems, systems administration, cloud and much more. More than anything else, we’re looking for people who want to be part of an elite engineering team and love to learn and grow with the best.
What will you do?
Develop automation using multiple languages such as Python and Ansible
Create reusable patterns abstracting common technology or integration challenges.
Deploy new automation incrementally and iteratively to get near real-time feedback from our stakeholders.
Collaborate with other developers, engineers, and operators to continually improve our service delivery.
Integrate with numerous observabilities, configuration, chaos engineering, and operational systems and services.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
B.S.C. degree in Computer Science or related technical field (e.g. B. Eng. physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
5 years professional coding experience in Python, and mastery of one or more scripting languages for automating systems management, e.g. Bash, Ansible, PowerShell
Deep understanding of modern Operating System internals, including Namespaces and Containers
Working knowledge of networking (e.g., firewall, routing, network topologies and hardware, SDN)
Nice-to-have
Development or operations experience with one or more of:
large-scale systems cloud-based applications or services distributed systems.
microservices and/or scale-out database architecture.
security algorithms and protocols including encryption, authentication and packet inspection.
Working experience with public clouds
What’s in it for you?
We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual
RBC believes in building diverse teams. We actively try to bring together people with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We encourage collaboration with internal partners and team members to achieve a collective result. We want our team members to think big and simplify things that are complicated. Our engineering culture is built on continuous learning and supported by transparency, trust and cooperation. We have a great mix of senior and junior engineers which gives everyone a chance to learn and build their knowledge and experience through teamwork and mentorship.
