This senior Wireless Access Planner in Access Wireless Strategy team will be dedicated to develop the wireless access strategy and drive mid term/long term wireless investments. If you are forward looking individual with wireless vision and strong technical knowledge this is position for you.
Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluate new RAN technologies and products on design, impact, and implementation
- You are technology and strategy expert that will develop the 3-year wireless access build and future technology roadmap for Rogers.
- Develop and analyze alternatives to recommend the most economical solution to meet departmental and organizational objectives regarding future network expansion, subscriber growth and usage patterns.
- Work closely with vendors and National Planning teams and create Rogers specific wireless roadmap. Create studies to determine the best way forward for the wireless network.
- Evaluate Rogers position in Canadian market and create plans for best allocation of the capital spend.
- Identify areas of improvement for the wireless network to keep Rogers ahead of competition
- Work closely with business teams to develop multiyear Network expansion plan for wireless Access network.
- Recommend course of action to management to resolve capacity and technical issue within the access network.
- Collaborate with Business teams, Regional Planning, Network Implementation and Engineering teams to communicate priorities.
- Conduct studies for special projects
Qualifications:
- Education experience post-secondary education, Bachelor of Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering preferably.
- 5-10 years of work experience in a wireless communication industry
- Strong knowledge and working experience on Wireless Access Network architecture and technology. Full Scope of GSM/HSPA/LTE/5G Radio Access
- Deep understanding of industry standards and technical Specs, such as 3GPP, etc., including L1/2/3, network interfaces, and protocols. Expert on vendor roadmaps, such as Ericsson RAN.
- Proficient in wireless access network infrastructure, including Macro/small cell/In-building/Femto. Working knowledge of advanced RAN features: LTE & NR carrier aggregation, EN-DC, Massive MIMO, etc.
- Strong understanding of the best practice on the cell site designing & building, capacity dimensioning and performance monitoring of LTE & 5G Wireless Access Networks and systems including 5~10 years experience with roles and functions of access network elements.
- Strong aptitude for research, data analysis and trend development
- Strong financial acumen, understanding of project budgets and cost analysis
