Job Purpose

 

We are seeking an energetic, self-starter willing to take on a challenge!

 

This position belongs to a development team that develops and supports ETL development for Global Risk Technologies. The incumbent is responsible for independent development tasks, either self-assigned or assigned by the manager/team lead.

 

In addition, the incumbent will be assisting in the analysis, design, and support of cost effective, mission critical, on-line, risk management and decision support systems for the Scotiabank.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • The candidate must be able to interact with various people like Development Manager, Business Analysts, Users, and Production Support groups.
  • The incumbent will have at least 5 years of progressive IT experience and strong technical capabilities.
  • The individual must thrive on challenge, be proactive and dynamic, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.

 

Functional Competencies

 

  • Technical Competencies
    • Must have at least 3- 5 years of hands-on technical working experience with systems analysis, design, development and debugging with the following technologies - J2EE / Core Java & SQL for stored procedures & queries.
    • Must have hands-on Java/J2EE experience
    • Must have 3+ years of RDBMS and at least 2 years of Oracle
    • Hands-on technical working experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using Web Services, utilizing either SOAP or RESTful APIs.
    • Hands-on technical working experience with Microservices, Cloud, and DevOps.
    • Strong ETL Development experience is highly desired.
    • Experience working with offshore development vendors would be an asset

 

  • Plus to have
    • Hands on working of experience with Python
    • Experience with Agile development methodologies

 

Education/ Experience 

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Software/Computer Engineering or related technology field
