As Sr Manager, Content Analysis, the candidate will be responsible for evaluating television programming services’ wholesale costs and performance in the context of content negotiations and cost synergies.  She/He will research and analyze each affiliation agreement renewal and will assist the Content Acquisition Team in developing the business case, negotiation strategy and associated presentations to management.  In doing so, the Business Analyst will develop standardized key performance indicators (KPIs) to enable a more systematic approach to content analysis and negotiations.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with internal teams such as Finance, Data Analytics, Regulatory and Product to include in your analysis budgetary objectives, subscriber trends and Set-Top-Box data.

To be successful in this role, you need to have strong analytical proficiencies (analytic and critical thinking), and proven ability to manipulate data.  To be successful, the chosen candidate will need to be creative, and solution oriented to optimize Content costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, organize and analyze for each television programming service, cost history and performance metrics utilizing CRTC Financial reports, internal information (budget and packaging) and Set-Top-Box data.

  • Perform cost analysis and provide other analytical support to the content acquisition team in negotiating agreements and renewals with content partners.

  • Develop business intelligence and analysis of television packages to discern trends, create/evaluate forecasts and make recommendations.

  • Work collaboratively with our Business Intelligence team to develop dynamic tools for programming services based on criteria such as audience value, financial data, themes and qualitative factors such as content.

  • Create and manage dashboard(s) for television programming services performance

  • Manage funnel and timeline of renewals

  • Document and track cost synergies

  • Track television programming expenses and estimate variations in relation to the budget and prepare monthly reports.

  • Supporting TV packaging

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Financial analysis skills

  • Self-motivated, customer-focused professional, who has solid organizational skills and can manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines ​

  • Interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and participate in projects spanning various Rogers groups and departments

  • Communicates effectively, at all levels of the organization, with meaningful and articulate verbal discussions

  • Adaptability skills with proven ability to adjust to shifting business needs and to react positively to change

  • Proven attention to accuracy and detail

  • Demonstrated knowledge of commonly used concepts, methodologies, and procedures to build business cases

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft suite of products: produce reports in MS Excel using advanced techniques (such as: functions, vlookups, concatenation, pivot tables, and macros) and present in an easy-to-understand format (such as MS PowerPoint)

  • Ability to manipulate including extracting, cleaning and constructing databases, gathered from multiple sources

  • Knowledge of Power BI (internal reporting software program) is helpful but not required

  • Strong background and understanding of TV and OTT landscape.
