PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Manager Fuels, the Specialist Sourcing – Fuel is accountable for ensuring CP has locomotive diesel fuel, sand, lube oil, and propane at the right location, on time and at the best overall cost to CP, to drive efficient and effective operations. The selected candidate will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of products and management of inventory.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Contract negotiation and procurement for fuel and other materials
- Develop and maintain relationships with operations and maintenance groups across CP’s network to drive fuel mandate & objectives
- Support CP Operations to coordinate urgent goods and service requirements
- Monitor daily and weekly material consumption to ensure timely and accurate reporting for all material.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure invoices are accurate and paid on time and budgets, accruals, and other accounting measures reflect the realities of the operation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Support KPI and associated reporting to drive insight, action and compliance to corporate fuel objectives
- Work collaboratively with other team members on various initiatives and cross functionality
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Education preferably a University Degree ( Business, Finance an asset);
- At least three years of experience in Sourcing/Procurement and/or inventory management
- Knowledge of railway industry is an asset;
- Good understanding of supply chain management;
- SAP/ERP experience;
- Microsoft office experience with increased competence in Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Strong analytical skills;
- Ability to multi task and move a variety of initiatives forward at the same time;
- Ability to demonstrate customer service focus;
- Ability to build consensus, influence and resolve conflict.
