Are you a strategic thinker who likes to build and design entire digital systems?
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Systems, the Solution Architect, Digital Operations, is responsible for architectural decisions for the applications we build or procure commercially. The Architect will work with the team to choose the best new or incumbent tools for the job from a whole-lifecycle perspective as well as steer existing systems towards best practices for solution design and delivery.
The Solution Architect will lead collaboration to craft and build a modular and scalable solution that addresses future architectural changes and designs. The portfolio of solutions is across various teams and will provide technical leadership to a portfolio of products with a yearly investment of approximately $5 million year across the various teams/products.
Long Description
Responsibilities:
-Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
-Design of overall technological architecture and design of the solutions to address business needs across solutions across a variety of domains including Environment, Health and Safety, Mine and Process Engineering, Mine Design and Geology
-Lead practices for product delivery and provide overall technical vision for a portfolio of products
Innovation and Solutions delivery for key initiatives working with different teams
-Guide team members and lead review of technology strategy including Cloud based strategy primarily working with Azure
-System Architecture and Design for Scalability, Performance, Reliability, and Security
-Work with software development leadership to build a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality
-Share responsibility with Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components
-Works with Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical teams
-Constantly looking for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution.
-Analyzing and documenting requirements and delivery practices
-Work closely with other architectural teams to align with Data architecture, Enterprise Architecture and Business Architecture
-Ability to travel 20% as the need arises
Qualification:
-5+ years of experience within Solution Architecture and design, specifically with Microsoft cloud and on-prem solutions
-Bachelors of Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
-Experience delivering technical solutions with custom development as well as working with vendor solutions (COTS) and integrating them into an enterprise ecosystem (using MuleSoft and Azure)
-Considerable experience with cloud technologies and services, specifically with the Microsoft Azure stack
-TOGAF certification would be considered an asset
-Ability to lead architectural documentation and presentation using EA Sparx or HOPEX (preferred)
-Experienced developer or technical lead with deep insight into current, new and emerging technologies and trends across digital systems
-Can make and facilitate/guide architecture decisions within a team as well as product level decisions.
-Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units
-Experience in Agile Development, with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience preferably with Microsoft toolset
-Ability to lead architecture decisions at a team and product level
-Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog as well as Technical Debt Management across multiple teams
-Working Level Spanish would be an asset
