Network Infrastructure
The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.
The team you will be a part of
You will join the Automation Platform & Tools (APT) Team, a global team within the Network Infrastructure Optics Research and Development organization. The APT team develops and supports a globally used, proprietary, Python-based Test Automation Platform that interfaces with the optical systems under test. In addition, we provide many supporting tools for test automation, such as script runners and web-based database applications for global test result storage and analysis, which use technologies such as Python, Vue.js, MySQL, and PHP. We also support Splunk (software for searching, monitoring, and examining machine-generated Big Data). Within Splunk, we develop new data analysis, visualization and AI/ML use cases to help in all parts of the R&D process, including release planning and tracking, software and hardware development, testing, and even customer support in the field.
Position: Software Development Co-op/Intern
Duration: 4 months
Date: January 8th to April 26th, 2024
Location: Flexible (Hybrid in Ottawa or Virtual in Canada)
What you will learn and contribute to
Working within a multi-site Agile Test Automation team, this candidate will design and develop automation infrastructure and tool enhancements to maximize the effectiveness and productivity of the feature teams and test teams in their automated test development, execution, and analysis activities.
As part of the team, you will:
- Develop web-based database applications using technologies such as PhP, Javascript, VueJS, Python & MySQL
- Develop Linux and Windows Applications using Python, VueJS and ElectronJS
- Develop Object Oriented library using Python and Selenium to interface with the Optical equipment under test
- Work on the development of big data analysis and visualization use cases within Splunk, which may include the application of AI/ML
Your skills and experience
Education Recommendations
Currently a candidate for a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with an accredited school in Canada.
You have :
- Interest in software development, ideally having worked with one or more: PHP, Javascript, Python, MySQL, VueJS, ElectronJS, Selenium, VMware, AWS
- Creative and motivated self-learner ready for a challenge to advance your career to the next level
It would be nice if you also had:
- Data science training or experience with big data analysis and visualization
- Interest and experience with Machine Learning and AI
- Experience with data ingestion into a tool such as Splunk or Elastic
- Experience with Git and/or Mercurial
- Proficient with Visual Studio and/or Eclipse
