What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Software Developer on the Client Source team in RBC Wealth Management’s Toronto office, you will partner directly with multiple technology and business teams to help deliver custom technology solutions to support Client On-Boarding. This involves working in the full end-to-end software lifecycle, including assessing requirements, designing application and data architecture, implementation, documentation, test and deployment automation, access control, and long-term ownership and support.

What will you do?

  • Assess, research and analyze business and system needs, exploring alternative options to recommend technology solutions and designs that meet sponsor needs and deliverables including component reusability, data sharing and security.
  • Create detailed designs for small to large projects/ programs - identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues.
  • Develop, code, document and execute unit test, system, integration and acceptance test using different languages and testing tools for functions of high complexity (E.g. .Net, Java, Node JS, Scheme, Load Runner, and XML)
  • Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of build, system testing and implementation phases of project.
  • Work on both Agile and Waterfall projects/initiatives.
  • Follow appropriate processes identified as part of the project workflow to ensure timely delivery of solution in time.
  • Provide senior management and key stakeholders with timely updates on projects, escalate as appropriate. 

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • A relevant degree or certificate in Computer Science or a comparable field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience in development of medium to large enterprise applications using .Net C#, XSLT, VB, JavaScript, Note.JS, PL/SQL.
  • Proven experience working within professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with DevOps pipelines (Git, Jenkins, UCD etc.)
  • Experience building message driven architectures (Kafka)
  • Experience with the non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis)
