Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties
SCICOMM 2A03 – Foundations in Science Communication
In this course, students learn and practice the basics of effective written, visual and oral science communication. They create written reports and summaries, graphics and data visualizations, short talks and other communications on a range of scientific topics. They also engage with the growing field of science communication research.

There is potential for Instructional Assistant support on this course, due to the large enrollment and quantity of Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. The selected applicant will be able to interview/select their own class A TAs from the applicant pool in advance of the start of lectures. If the applicant is unable to do so, administrative support for this will be provided by the department.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. preferred, or combination of relevant education and teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Research and teaching experience is preferred, especially in the field of Science Communication.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
