Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties
Exploration of thinking that is inspired, supported, and enabled by computing. Survey of the salient ideas, methods, and technologies in the major areas of computing including basic data types, logic, operating systems, computer networking, web computing, information security, digital media, software development, and problem solving techniques. Introduction to the fundamentals of functional programming.
Three lectures, one tutorial (two hours), first term; may be offered also in the second term (Computer Science students need to take this course in the first term)
Prerequisite(s): One of MATH 1K03, Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus U, Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors, or registration in Computer Science 1
Instructor will have full responsibility for the course offering, including teaching (preparation and delivery of lectures, seminars, discussion periods), student assessment (development of assessments such as quizzes, tests, examinations, laboratory assignments, evaluation of students), responding to student inquiries (holding scheduled office hours, responding to student inquiries outside of scheduled lecture times), attending meetings with Supervisor, and preparing and submitting learning outcomes measurement for the Course. All course components will be offered in person. The successful applicant must be available at the scheduled lecture times.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or related discipline. Applicant must have solid background in and thorough understanding of the course topics as described above.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
