The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Wastewater/Technical Engineer to join their highly successful Water and Wastewater group, located at our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Director, Water this position will be responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects of varying scope and complexity across Western Canada.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively to draw on WSP’s extensive resources to deliver innovative solutions that build stronger and more resilient communities for us to play, live and work. This position requires working closely with clients and being a great team player to participate in and lead high performing multi-disciplinary teams.

A day in the life:
- Maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction by ensuring that project outputs meet client expectations, and ensure that clients are fully consulted and apprised of progress, issues, and related solutions at key project stages;Manage and direct multi-disciplinary teams from concept through detailed design and construction;
- Thrive in a team environment with the ability to develop innovative design and planning solutions and proactively manage interactions with other team members;
- Provide technical direction and guidance to the engineering team on design calculations, process and equipment selection, specifications, and contract document preparation;
- Provide technical advisory services to clients for water and wastewater services;
- Deliver engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and in line with company and industry best practice;
- Prepare analyses, reports, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, presentations, and reports as required;
- Work with Marketing Team to develop win strategies and contribute to the preparation of high quality and strategic proposals
- Develop and maintain a network of technical/professional support within WSP and the industry; and
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree from an accredited University (specializing in water/wastewater treatment, is preferred);
- Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered;
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure planning, design and commissioning;
- Technical skills should be municipal-related and any of the following skills would be considered preferred assets:
- Design of surface water treatment infrastructure and source water assessments
- Design of groundwater infrastructure and related treatment
- Hydraulic analysis
- Design of municipal wastewater treatment infrastructure
- Development of Liquid Waste Management Plans
- Project management experience is a definite asset;
- High level of initiative, motivation, drive, energy and enthusiasm to delivery high quality services to meet client expectations;
- A team player with the ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organization;
- Ability to work under supervision; effective time management and strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work with Project Managers and Technical staff located in offices across WSP;
- Contribute to maintaining a sustainable and positive work environment;
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail;
- High ethical standards in parallel with WSP Corporate Policy, Vision, Mission and Values; and
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
