Why this role is important?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics & Insights, this role is responsible for the data systems and tools to support the analysis that drive the management and execution of the generic component of Shoppers Drug Mart’s pharmacy procurement program. The scope of the role encompasses the following broad functions: SQL Server database maintenance/development/optimization, decision support tools development, data integration across multiple platforms, analytical modeling, demand / supply planning and reporting.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, maintain, optimize and support database systems running on SQL Server.
- Develop, maintain, optimize and support the data transformation activities.
- Identify maintenance plan strategies and opportunities for expansion/upgrade to keep up with increasing data requirements.
- Develop, maintain, design and support the front-end tools and scorecards to support portfolio analysis and complex business decisions.
- Liaise with IT and other business units in the design, development and ongoing maintenance of the databases and reporting tools that drive key business decisions in the pharmacy procurement group.
- Align with Enterprise-level changes and systems migration to ensure minimize gaps in data streams.
- Responsible for the development of structured analyses, utilizing multiple data sources (primary and secondary) and systems, to identify opportunities to enhance our product and vendor mix to meet customer needs and operational & commercial objectives.
- Support for creating and maintaining financial models and for the development and distribution of key reports (both ad hoc and regular) on a timely basis.
- Required to further develop the analytical and decision support capabilities of the Pharmacy Procurement Group through formal and informal coaching and mentoring of team members.
What You'll Need:
- Requires a University degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar.
- 3 - 5 years analytical experience with exposure to a broad array of analysis techniques
- Advance level SQL Server, Excel, VBA, Access; preference will be given to candidates with strong SQL or other relational databases experience
- Retail or generic pharma experience would be considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills. Able to maintain strong working relationships with internal employees and with external partners.
- In addition to excellent technical and analytic skills, the candidate must be able to interpret and present information (both written and verbal) in an engaging, meaningful way.
- This position does not have any direct reports but will provide coaching and support to other team members
