Why this role is important?

The successful candidate will join the Industrial Engineering team and support continuous improvement in dispensing and clinical service operations across Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, and Loblaw grocery pharmacies.

You will play a key role and take initiative in developing innovation and improvement initiatives in pharmacy operations. Engaging in collaborative projects with cross-functional teams, your analysis and input will help drive efficiency and safety in store processes while helping to determine the future design and model for our pharmacies.

What you will do:

  • Identify, validate, and drive new process improvement opportunities

  • Optimize physical layouts, workflows, and roles and responsibilities to help pharmacy teams service our patients efficiently and safely while driving better customer experience

  • Provide labour planning, data analysis, process optimization support to ensure initiatives and operations meet our goals and objectives

  • Conduct in-store time studies and work sampling to quantify process challenges and measure performance

  • Develop models to help design and evaluate future-state vs. current-state processes

  • Report on operational success metrics and perform statistical and exploratory analysis to drive new insight

  • Liaise with Store Operations, Technology, Planning, and Program teams to ensure we provide the best solutions to our stores

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or similar field from an accredited university

  • 5+ years in process improvement roles or related experience

  • Competence in Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology and tools including FMEA, root cause analysis, process design, modeling, and optimization

  • Manage concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced environment

  • Data mining and analysis skills; experience with SQL would be beneficial

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and digital literacy

  • Able to facilitate cross-functional problem solving and discussion across multiple levels of the organization

  • Experience in retail or healthcare industries is an asset

  • Able to accommodate occasional travel within Canada
