Job Description
The Sr Specialist, Specialty Pharmacy Support will be a subject matter expect in third party pharmacy reimbursement and will provide administration and escalation support for the Specialty Heath Network pharmacies. The Sr Specialist will work with the pharmacy teams and organizational shared services to align pharmacy systems and processes to minimize risks of financial loss. The Sr Specialist will participate in Learning and Development activities across the business as required to support business needs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as second level support for complex reimbursement and third-party coverage escalations
- Responsible for manual submissions, payment collections, and patient and payor escalations
- Develop internal pharmacy billing audits to identify areas of risk
- Complete third-party audit submissions
- Support pharmacy managers with on-site third-party audits as required
- Work with the Learning and Development team to create pharmacy resources and training modules
- Support SPN Account Manager with billing escalations as required
- Support new Patient Support Program initiatives and participate in pharmacy special projects, and cross-functional initiatives
- Represent pharmacy in system and technology projects that impact the specialty pharmacy business
- Build collaborative relationships across business and regularly share best practices
- Perform root cause analysis and lead action plan development to close process gaps
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of College diploma or University undergraduate degree
- Minimum five (5) years of combined community, hospital or specialty pharmacy experience or equivalent
- Understanding of the third-party reimbursement landscape required
- Experience and/or knowledge of specialty pharmaceuticals & biologics an asset
- Knowledge of Pharmacy software systems including HealthWatch and SAP an asset
- Salesforce experience an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational, and multi-tasking skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changes of responsibility reflective of the business needs
