Senior Software Developer - Halifax (Hybrid) - #CSTech

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Various initiatives around concentration risk allow RBC to measure exposures to particular groups and entities. We are building a web-based reporting application for both regulatory and internal credit reporting. This role will act as key member of team in building and maintain a cohesive unit across technology and business with a culture to meet and exceed expectations. Team for these projects primarily based in Toronto, with business relationships in both Toronto and New York.

What will you do?

  • Development - Implementing Micro-services using spring boot, spark/hive data ingestion jobs, data cleanup and standardization using complex queries and create reporting dashboards.

  • Design - Work with business teams to understand the requirements, analyze and transform business logic and come up with Solution Design adhering to architecture guidelines of Credit Risk Reporting Application.

  • DevOps - Perform change management activities such as source code management, creating activity records for production implementation, creating implementation plans, etc.

  • Delivery - Working in Agile or iterative development methodology environment to effectively communicates with project team members, stakeholders, and other IT teams.

  • Quality - Conduct periodic reviews to measure the code quality and implement the recommendations to continually improve all aspects of code quality.

  • Collaboration - Works closely with members of QA teams to review test scenarios requirements and work with members of production support to help resolve production issues.

  • Platform Maintenance and Support - Partners with infrastructure and business teams to design solutions and resolve business system issues (i.e., work-flow solutions, batch cycle troubleshooting, technical interface issues, software issues, etc.)

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Experience working on projects developing and implementing applications for business stakeholders. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or community college diploma in of equivalent standard in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering

  • 7 + years of development experience with Java / J2EE application design and development.

  • Strong experience in Web Service Application development including RESTful.

  • Strong Spark/Hive experience and ability to write complex SQL.

  • Strong Database application development and ETL work using (Hibernate / Spring), database design and advance DB performance-tuning skills on MySQL/SQL Server/Sybase/Oracle or similar databases.

  • TDD / unit testing. ( jUnit/ testing)

  • Unix/Linux, shell scripting, application configuration and deployment.

  • Hands-On with CICD/DevOps process and tools like Jenkins, Maven, Git etc.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience and knowledge of JAVA design patterns.

  • Experience Developing Front-End Applications with Angular/ jQuery/ vue.js/HTML5

  • Experience with Public Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) or OpenShift Cloud Platform

  • Expert in both Real time application and batch processing applications development.

  • Experience using Selenium for testing.
