The Opportunity:

 

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Project Controller to join our Ontario Environmental Planning business, located across various offices in Ontario. This position will be responsible for providing support and assistance to Project Managers and project teams, along with providing support to leadership of the Environmental Planning business unit. 

The Project Controller will support Project Managers with project financials, schedule and overall project reporting, including billing, accounts receivables, change orders, project schedule management and report writing.  As a member of the Earth and Environment business line, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on complex projects. You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities, multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a very high quality. You will gain knowledge through mentorship and skills development

A day in the life:

As part of this role you will:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Engineers, Scientists, Planners, Administrators, Sub-Consultants, and other staff;
  • Provide support to the project managers and coordinators by providing financial and schedule data;
  • Provide support to Directors and Vice Presidents in the regular review and tracking of project performance and metrics relative to budget and approved scope;
  • Organize billing drafts, collect sub-consultant receivables and register invoices in the system, and facilitate Purchase Orders;
  • Compile monthly invoices and following up for approval and payment;
  • Manage and monitor timelines related to submissions or review process by email notification and reminders;
  • Prepare Project status reports;
  • Prepare Change Orders, Non-disclosure Agreements and Insurance Documentation as required;
  • Prepare Quality Management, Project Management Plans and Sub-Consultant Agreements;
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly and year end financial reporting packages to project and corporate management teams;
  • Work closely with the project team and corporate management to maintain a current status of issues and changes; and
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

 

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree (project management, finance or business preferred);
  • 6 to 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and organizational skills.  
  • Previous relevant experience in consulting industry is an asset.
  • Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as the role requires continuous interaction with team members.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or MS Project skills.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
