As a Senior Physicist/Engineer, you will focus on commercially-facing development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. This typically includes engineers, computer scientists, software developers, product managers, and end users, working in concert with partners in Baker Hughes business units.
As a Senior Physicist/Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of physics concepts for EMAT and/or MFL pipeline inspection tools
- Leading the development of analytics within well-defined projects to address customer needs and opportunities
- Presenting to senior leaders in specific technical spaces and on cross functional teams on how technologies interconnect and contribute to overall strategy
- Connecting the dots across technologies and develop cross-technology solutions
- Working on cross-functional projects/teams to deliver technology solutions for the business
- Designing, developing and delivering new algorithm concepts for analysis and reporting of pipeline inspection data
- Working alongside software developers and software engineers to translate algorithms into commercially viable products and services
- Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, domain experts, internal and external customers
- Contributing to continuous improvement and quality initiatives as well as innovative approaches and solutions to business problems
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have completed a M.Sc or Phd. in Physics, Mathematics or other relevant Engineering discipline related to Physics/Engineering
- Have strong numerical skills used in a data science context, including working with numerical data in analytics and/or machine learning contexts
- Have knowledge and experience of the physics of current and emerging pipeline NDT inspection techniques (EMAT and MFL preferred)
- Have demonstrable skills and experience in physics and algorithm development from design, prototyping and testing to delivery and application to engineering problems
- Have exposure to Big Data and Cloud technologies (for algorithm development as well as for data storage and software engineering)
