Senior Manager, Total Wealth Planning
Purpose
The primary mandate of the Senior Manager, Total Wealth Planning is to develop and evolve the Total Wealth Planner mandate across International Wealth Management (IWM) franchise as part of the roll out of the Total Wealth approach.
This role will also lead the design of global financial planning standards and provide guidance and support to the team of Total Wealth Planners located across IWM countries, who are financial planning professionals with varying degrees of expertise, that creates and delivers financial plans for high-net-worth clients, working directly with the country wealth teams. This role will be responsible for driving the adoption of financial planning and ensuring that comprehensive financial planning advice is provided and, when required, incorporates input from other Wealth specialists to formulate and present strategic and comprehensive financial plans.
The Senior Manager, Total Wealth Planning acts as the subject matter expert and champion and will be responsible for promoting a consistent financial planning engagement process. The role also ensures that the objectives, goals and initiatives related to Total Wealth Planning are carried out or met in support of the Scotia Wealth Management team's business strategies and objectives, and all activities are carried out in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the development of Total Wealth Planning and support its continuing evolution by focusing on:
• Supporting the development of a roadmap to introduce and embed Total Wealth Planning within the Scotia Wealth Management businesses across the IWM footprint, demonstrating an understanding of local business, industry best practices and a thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape.
• Help build a high-performance team and environment, and implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates Total Wealth Planners across multiple countries.
• Collaborating and providing subject matter expertise in the development of tools and platforms to deliver financial plans to our client and ensuring that these are used to maximise the client and TW Planner experience.
• Develop professional partnership framework (i.e. CPAs, lawyers, and other professionals) to provide optimal service on more complex planning matters, leveraging regional relationships and pricing.
• Collaborating with the IWM Head Office and Country Wealth management teams to uncover the gaps in knowledge of the TW advisory process or software and create tools or training to address those gaps
• Promoting Total Wealth Planning at Head Office and in local markets and fostering a culture of collaboration between all stakeholders, driving penetration of clients with Total Wealth Plans.
• Writing or editing articles or newsletters, creating presentations on various financial planning topics.
2. Lead the design and implementation of an effective and consistent management oversight framework of the Total Wealth planning compliance mandate across all countries, including:
• Develop a centralised oversight process, including the incorporation of financial planning quality assurance review for local management teams.
• Help in the identification, documentation, communication, and resolution of quality assurance / compliance issues, including a system for tracking and reporting
• Develop IWM framework for Country teams to oversee the licencing and registration for the Total Wealth Planners to ensure that they meet local licensing requirements on an ongoing basis.
• Partner with Country Wealth and Compliance teams for monitoring and addressing issues
• Support implementation of process improvements and sharing of best practices to mitigate ongoing quality assurance and compliance concerns.
3. Maintain and enhance the knowledge of Total Wealth Planners by:
• Coaching to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and optimal Total Wealth Plans by in-country TW Planners, regularly scheduling one-on-one coaching with team
• Continually enhancing the knowledge of Total Wealth Planners by providing technical sessions on new and innovative planning strategies.
• Provide timely and robust support for financial planning questions and engagements and provide regular direction and guidance while striving for peak performance. Assist in overcoming obstacles through additional resources, removal of roadblocks, and providing the level of support required for their success.
• Develop and evolve the TW Planner onboarding and training program, including embedding training for wealth teams to reinforce the team-based approach and the value of TW Planning.
• Deliver the Total Wealth Planning training as required to all stakeholders involved in the Total Wealth approach
• Creating and maintaining a list of training or certification courses for the Total Wealth Planners to obtain or maintain required designations and further professional development.
4. Provide strong team leadership and contribute to effective functioning of the Total Wealth Planning team by:

Experience, Education, and Certifications
• International certification/accreditation (i.e., Certified Financial Planner) preferred (i.e., CFP, CFA, CAIA, FRM)
• 5+ years experience as a practicing financial planner for high-net-worth clients
• Graduate/Postgraduate in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or similar Finance disciplines. MBA or advanced programs, postgraduate or specialization courses in the financial system.
Key Technical Skills
• Comprehensive technical and behavioural understanding and execution of the financial planning process including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, cash management, taxation issues and risk management to clients
• Experienced in creating financial plans for high-net worth clients, with strong ability to understand and interpret market data, client data, investment calculations, and turn insights into logical recommendations for the client
• Expert knowledge of financial planning software and proficient in MS Office (advanced Excel, Power Point)
• Working knowledge of the Scotia Wealth Management business line including the value proposition, the products and services it provides to high-net-worth clients
• Proficient in Spanish and English
