What is the opportunity?
The RBC Climate Action Institute brings together economists, policy analysts and business strategists to develop research and advance ideas that contribute to Canada’s climate progress. Initially focused on buildings and real estate, agriculture and energy systems, The Institute will work to advance and deliver meaningful impact on a key pillar of RBC’s climate strategy, the RBC Climate Blueprint.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for building and leading strategic programs that deliver on the Institute’s three-part Mandate:
Inform and inspire: Leverage RBC’s thought leadership capabilities to inform policy and inspire action towards a Net Zero future in Canada.
Engage decision makers: Help convene key stakeholders to discuss ideas and develop pragmatic climate solutions.
Facilitate bold action: Work with industry partners to help clients and communities apply climate solutions.
The role will sit within RBC’s Economics and Thought Leadership and will serve as a key point of contact for internal and external partners
What will you do?
Support the building and execution of strategic programs that deliver on the Institutes three-part mandate
Lead development and execution of an integrated and robust external engagement and strategy with key stakeholders and influencers
Support the development of an external marketing and communications strategy to help build awareness and drive profile for the research and content and the Institute more broadly across channels
Build and maintain with internal and external partners to identify synergies and opportunities to partner on key programs
Ensure key partners within RBC are informed and kept apprised of the engagements underway and relevant information that may be relevant to their day-to-day work.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 8 years of strategic program development and execution in large matrix organizations
Strong skills & experience building & maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.
Ability to work across multiple internal teams and seek alignment across key priorities.
Highly adaptable with the ability to prioritize competing requests in a fast-paced environment; embrace change; and demonstrate diplomacy, professionalism and a positive attitude.
Ability to confidently provide strategic guidance to senior leaders and possess the ability to educate and influence others on communications best practices.
Strong communications, content strategy and brand expertise a key asset
Nice-to-have
Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, English or related field.
Experience in building coalitions and public/private partnerships
Digital and social media savvy, with a strong grasp on the evolving digital media landscape
