Purpose of Job:
The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk – Regulatory Initiatives is a key role within GRM to produce and correlate risk reporting for Board, Senior management and other internal stakeholders including performance of a second line challenge role in the context of regulatory action plans, GRM self-assessment and other support roles.
Job Responsibilities:
1. GRM self-assessment
• Actively participating in the GRM self-assessment, including enhancements to methodologies, procedures, trying templates and reporting.
• Support Management in finding annual strategy, roadmap and overall direction for the GRM Risk self-assessment program.
• Lead the design and operating evaluation of in-scope GRM assessable units against established criteria.
• Manage issues/gap identification including drafting and communication/discussion with Stakeholders.
• Collaborating with all stakeholders – risk subject matter experts, senior management and report users to ensure timely delivery of accurate, complete and meaningful risk reports, producing regular and ad-hoc risk reports.
• Manage the coordination and production of risk material for senior management, Board of Directors, external and internal stakeholders.
• Creation and sustainment of procedures that support the execution of key accountabilities.
2. Other projects/initiatives
• Participate in Regulatory initiatives including status reporting on regulatory issues and assisting in regulatory initiatives and/or submissions.
• Lead and manage projects and initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations such as identify process improvements and resolve audit issues.
• Leverage technology to enhance the efficiency of the Self-assessment process and reporting environment.
3. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day
activities and decisions.
4. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Job Requirements:
- Role will require good understanding of various risk disciplines and GRM processes
- Four (4) plus years in an audit and/or quality assurance role; And, Two (2) plus years preparing reporting to the Board and Senior Executives
- Able to draft issues and present to Stakeholders/Executives.
- Familiarity/Knowledge of applicable External Regulations/Guidelines and BNS Policies/Framework relevant to Self-Assessment process.
- Expert interpersonal and relationship building skills and strong communication skills are essential to influence and collaborate effectively with others
- Superior analytical skills, high degree of judgment, and attention to detail
- Ability to work on complex projects independently, within tight deadlines, adapts to changing deadlines while delivering quality material.
- Excellent organizational skills are required to manage multiple and concurrent deliverables.
