As the Senior Manager, Portfolio Oversight, you will contribute to the profitability of the Retail Bank by ensuring Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) exposures are aligned with the Risk Appetite Framework optimizing risk/return over the long term, as well as identifying opportunities to enhance credit quality, increase sales and improve processing efficiencies. You will be a subject matter expert on RESL portfolio data, ensuring all relevant compliance and regulations are adhered to.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Fulfil regulatory internal and external audit action plans for the RESL portfolio within a suitable timeframe, ensuring there are durable and effective solutions
Review and update account management strategies and policies to ensure the Bank's risk stays within acceptable limits, including a proactive assessment to keep it within Risk Appetite
Ensure the data utilized for the RESL portfolio analysis and regulatory reporting is precise and clearly comprehended
Be familiar with reporting definitions between data sources to be best positioned to understand reporting variability, addressing data anomalies and creating resolutions to correct where necessary
Lead account management strategy pertaining to combined loan plans (CLPs) for activities such as credit limit increase/decrease, restructures, re-advanceable limit decrease and authorizations, using analytics, empirical decision models, and competitive analysis
Create and track key performance indicators for CLP account management to ensure compliance with policies and to pinpoint areas of risk within various channels and client segments, along with developing sustainable reporting for portfolio exceptions
Collaborate with key stakeholders in first and second line of defense to ensure regulatory reporting and submissions are accurate and complete
Support investigations and solutioning needed for issues identified by Quality Assurance, Mortgage Account Governance (MAG), Prefund Review and/or Internal Audit items in an appropriate timeframe
Oversee, enhance and execute appraisal management reporting to record property valuation types, appraisal expenses and automated model usage
Maintain in-depth knowledge of risk related federal and provincial legislation requirements, including changes in, and emerging issues related to, the Bank's regulatory environment and the potential impacts on RESL
Stay informed on the competitive landscape to ensure that our processes, strategies and policies consider the changing landscape
Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
Post-secondary education with STEM and/or business focus preferred
Technical expertise with technologies surrounding underwriting and account management of RESL credit
A deep understanding of the Canadian residential mortgage space, macro-economic conditions and regulatory environment
Strong analytical and project management skills
In-depth knowledge of business-related computer software, specifically Data Warehouse/EDL methodology, BI Frameworks (SAS, Power BI, R, Tableau, Cognos etc.), SQL/Stored procedures and Data Mining
Solid communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills to interact with internal and external partners
Strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, thoroughness and attention to detail
A high degree of self-assurance, initiative and business sense to perform responsibilities independently within established parameters
Comfortability working in a hybrid work environment, with the expectation to come in-office weekly
