What you will be doing:
The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications will lead the development of external communications strategy, overall narrative and PR to support Tangerine’s strategic goals, brand positioning and protect Tangerine’s reputation. You will also develop both the brand and narrative for the CEO in both her capacity as President & CEO of Tangerine and as Executive Vice President of Scotiabank.
In this role, you will strive to engage Clients, employees, partners and interested Canadians through the strategic, creative and consistent articulation of the CEO’s vision, goals and thought-leadership platforms. This will include media, social media, leadership meetings, newsletters, town halls and supporting the CEO with awards and public speaking events. Stakeholder management will involve collaboration across Tangerine Bank and Scotiabank.

Enhance Market Profile and Reputation
Strategy
o Oversee and responsible for the external communications strategy, development and execution for Tangerine
o Create and support an inspirational communications environment finding creative ways to connect clients and the marketplace with the organization’s purpose, goals and strategy through impactful and inspiring storytelling and using innovative communication techniques.
o Partner with internal communications, marketing and social media to create and ensure all plans are integrated.
Content development
o Including articles, podcasts, interviews and videos for key campaigns
o Oversee all relevant approvals
Media relations
o Including developing earned media plans and messaging and engaging directly with media where appropriate.
o Prepare materials and briefings for spokespeople or act as a spokesperson directly
CEO Communications
• Develop external communications strategies that drive the CEO’s leadership profile, Tangerine’s brand, culture and strategic positioning.
• Manage and drive CEO social channel profiles
• Support creating CEO messaging resources including key messages, prepared remarks, issues’ briefs and other materials as required.
• Proactively source external speaking opportunities with partner organizations
• For external events, Represent CEO communications on all special project teams including Tangerine Leadership team and Tangerine Board in order to support and guide the development of effective communication plans
Issues Management
• Protect Tangerine’s brand/reputation and provide effective cross-functional leadership in any crisis situation.
• Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization.
• Proactively create issues briefs and media standby statements, collaborating with Scotiabank where appropriate
• Create and collaborate with the Management team to and external communications to ensure appropriate responses.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
• A minimum of 8 years of professional communications experience with a proven track record of outstanding results.
• A minimum of 3 years of people and project management experience with direct reports
• University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent experience in Communications
• Solid understanding of communication theory and best practices
• Advanced writing, editing, and presentation skills
• Demonstrate strategic understanding of channels such as social media and video in relation to internal communications needs
• Able to deal with ambiguity and tight deadlines while working effectively in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others
