Position: Senior Manager, Enterprise Productivity (Delivering Lean Six Sigma Certifications)
Purpose
Enterprise Productivity is a dynamic team focused on process excellence across the bank. The process re-engineering and automation teams provide an intertwined, best-in-practice approach to drive productivity and efficiencies across the bank.
As a Senior Manager within the Enterprise Productivity team, you are a team builder and a problem solver by nature who can connect strategy and execution and establish process-oriented rigor in an organization. You are a change agent and a leader. You bring thought leadership in business strategy and process management to effectively deliver operational innovation opportunities to transform Scotiabank. You're well-rounded, with the ability to define the right balance between structure and agility that enables Enterprise Productivity to run fast. Lastly, you are a self-starter with a high degree of rigor, organization, and discipline to get things done.
Accountabilities
• Design and facilitate of all levels of Lean Six Sigma certifications (White, Yellow, Green, Black Belt) and process documentation training across the organization
• Complete needs assessments to create learning objectives that will help stakeholders and team drive change management across the organization
• Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff and internal and external stakeholders about business process management, Lean Six Sigma re: the identification, improvement, and sustainment of process improvement initiatives (DMAIC)
• Use analytical and quantitative methods to assess, design and implement process optimization opportunities to better connect, streamline and simplify cross-functional operations. Define meaningful business metrics to drive process effectiveness that delivers business results
• Effectively communicate with and strategically influence middle management and executive leadership to adopt productivity improvements and champion change management.
• Leverage data and analytics to provide reporting to executives to highlight areas of opportunity to ensure team metrics are achieved
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge, in supporting team objectives and personal development
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
• Contributes to a high-performance environment where employees invest wisely, take accountability, and work on the right things. Ensure timely, high quality processes and procedures are efficient and effective to enable our business partners’ success and deliver a superior customer experience.
• Contributes to an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Dimensions
• Responsible for designing and delivering all levels of Lean Six Sigma certifications
• Deliver monthly, quarterly and as needed reporting to executive management
• Works on upwards of 3-4 waves/projects per year – across Operations, IT&S, Retail & Wealth or Corporate Functions
• Responsible for presenting to and strategically influencing middle management and executive leadership.
• Hours of business will vary by business line with particular subsets operating in 24/7, 365 days per year.
• There can be an inordinate number of responsibilities requiring constant prioritization. Pressure situations can arise quickly and unexpectedly due to market conditions, customer demands, technology outages, etc.
Education / Experience
• +5 years of relevant experience, including cost reduction/productivity improvement expertise
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification required
• Previous experience with Lean methodology, systems and tools, and small to medium scale change management initiatives.
• Certification in Adult learning is an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
