What is the opportunity?
The Enterprise Configuration Management team is responsible for the overall health of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The Senior Manager, Configuration Management will lead the team and will define and oversee the execution of the operational activities to ensure data integrity within the CMDB.
The Senior Manager, Configuration Management will be significant in resolving complex CMDB issues, play a key role in driving continual service improvement and optimizing processes through automation. This role will contribute to strategy as well as tactical activities to mature the CMDB to meet long-term objectives.
What will you do?
- Define and manage the scope and the architecture of the CMDB, including CI types, CI attributes and CI relationships; collaborate with technology owners to identify and onboard any new CI Types and/or CI attributes into the CMDB
- Establish and maintain data imports/integrations from Service Now Discovery and other authorized sources of truth to ensure the CMDB is updated on a consistent basis
- Manage the day-to-day activities to maintain data completeness and accuracy of the CMDB; establish and execute data validation/certification processes and data cleanup activities
- Review and recommend improvements to the existing configuration management practice, processes and procedures, as well as, focus on implementing efficiencies through automation within the CMDB
- Assist in defining and maintaining the configuration management policy, standards and practice
- Advocate and educate the Technology & Operations staff in configuration management principles, processes and procedures
- Coach and mentor the Enterprise Configuration Management team to build a high performing team while keeping them focused on business priorities
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field along with 7 to 10 years of operational configuration management experience; 2 to 5 years of people management experience
- Experience in implementing and maintaining the ServiceNow CMDB in a complex IT environment with a global footprint
- Possess a holistic view across the Service Management disciplines
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certified
Nice-to-have
- Familiar with the Common Services Data Model
- Familiar with the service mapping
