POSITION SUMMARY
The DevOps Sr Manager will manage a BI team centered on providing insight and aiding in business decision-making. Plans projects to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. Being a DevOps Manager lends significant subject-matter expertise to enhance projects with insightful takeaways and perspective. Collaborates with project stakeholders to design and plan initiatives, and ensures that business intelligence analysts have the tools, training, and understanding of the field to produce effective dashboards, reports, and metrics. The DevOps Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
The DevOps Sr Manager will understand data from both operational/strategic points of view and is responsible for providing “Data-to-Insight” (BI) tools to support and enhance business strategies. As a BI leader it will be required to collaborate with other business units (Finance/Manufacturing/Operations/HR, etc.). As such, s/he will be responsible for developing a roadmap and portfolio of all B.I. and technology projects necessary to support the long-term competitive needs for the company. This individual will lead a team of devops analysts/developers who own the end to end for implementing data marts, ad-hoc self-serve reports, and dashboards to empower the broader group of business users. This is in addition to and not in lieu of the more traditional DevOps responsibilities and demonstrated leadership skillset that were laid out in the proceeding segment.
DUTIES
- Maintain and support end-to-end Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions.
- Ensure appropriate prioritization and resolution of production defects in accordance with agreed upon SLA.
- Ensure compliance with incident, problem and change management policies and processes
- Perform troubleshooting and performance optimization of solutions and services.
- Contribute to definition and implementation of standards and best practices for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence.
- Identify trends and develop appropriate processes to ensure timely resolution and ongoing continuous improvement of key processes.
- Ensure that production support requirements are met prior to transition to production
- Develop an understanding of the business applications supported as well as the business directions.
- Develop a long-term strategy for building the right infrastructure and tools, grounded for excellent analytical work for all BU’s and Corporate functions.
- Build partnerships with other teams in order to scale analytical approaches and frameworks across similar efforts in the company.
- Work with DevOps team on projects and day to day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-Secondary Degree in Technology, Engineering and Computer Science
- MBA & PMP preferred
- 7 -10 years hand-on experience working as an DBA/IT Application/Technical support analyst/
- 5+ years working in a DW/BI environment
- Experience with change management and incident management processes
- Expertise in:
- Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, & SSRS)
- Oracle
- IFS, IFS BI
- Crystal Reports
- PowerBI / Tableau data management
- Data Mapping, Data Modelling, Business Intelligence, Data Analysis,
- Agile Methodology
- Competent in the Microsoft Stack
- Experience with API/Web Services
- Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Git, Agile, Scrum/Kanban, etc.
- Experience in robotics, automation, AI, etc..
- Demonstrated success working in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, high degree of attention to detail is imperative.
- Exceptional multitasking, time management, organizational and prioritizing skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills is a fundamental requirement.
