The Team
We are the CRM, Sales & Branch Performance engineering team, part of Customer Servicing engineering in Scotia Digital, focused on providing solutions that assist front line staff across channels in providing better service to our customers and increase sales & productivity.
We work closely with our business partners, vendors and various technology partners within the bank to ensure we implement solutions that align with the overall business and technology strategies and roadmaps ensuring the highest quality experience for the customer.
The group is a mix of architects, business analysts, solutions experts, specialists, developers and testers who develop customer servicing technology roadmaps, ensure end-to-end project delivery, support day to day operations, write technical stories, develop code, manage stakeholders and connect related teams.
The Role
The Senior Manager – Development is responsible for the delivery of complex business and technology related initiatives for our various lines of Business. This role will be responsible for application stewardship, day to day operations, and project delivery for several applications related to our CRM, Sales & Branch Performance portfolio; will also provide technical thought leadership, navigate us through production issues and investigations, and be a key advocate of efficiency and continual improvement as we work to modernize our platforms.

- Define and drive team’s technology vision and roadmap
- Manage and coach a team of developers - guide and mentor developers through technical issues and challenges and their employment journey – be “present”, take ownership of items, and drive to resolution as necessary
- Stay abreast of modern technologies and practices, and recommends the introduction of new technology and processes
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert and hold overall accountability for application development on multiple complex initiatives, and operations and stability of the application ecosystem
- Participate in design discussions on scalability, performance, security, and best practices
- Participate in all phases of the IT System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Responsible for representing and successfully navigating projects through the internal bank processes.
- Create, track and own budgets – opex and project
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Highly technical and curious, not afraid to jump in and get hands-on with developers
- Have experience coaching and mentoring developers, helping them create training plans and motivating them to bring their best!
- Excellent Computer Science Fundamentals; Object Oriented Design; Java Design Patterns; API design and testing
- Previous experience delivering mission critical systems in an agile environment with teams located in multiple geographies
- Understanding of cloud-native development
- 5+ years of experience leading application delivery or support teams. Previously worked as a lead developer or technical lead
- 2+ years of experience on Salesforce platform; 5+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, and/or API development
