Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC Client Cards Technology team is looking for a driven and innovative cloud developer. In this role, you will lead the E2E implementation of the new platform, supporting the migration of Mainframe-based systems to a cloud. As part of the team, you will work very closely with Cloud and API engineers to execute the team’s modernization strategy.

What will you do

  • Designing system integration or refinement plans for cloud computing customized solutions.

  • Performing research and analysis on customer requirements and translating these into technical solutions for further development.

  • Conducting and monitoring validation and testing procedures for cloud computing systems.

  • Evaluating system performance and capacity in a large, distributed infrastructure environment; defining backup and recovery plans.

  • Partner with solution architecture to validate solution design and services

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or computer science

  • 5+ years’ experience in application design, development, and delivery

  • Demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and implementing an API using Java

  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong background in software development and database technologies: NoSQL, Relational, Hierarchical

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of DevOps, Container, Urban Code Deploy, Jenkins and GitHub

  • Experience building event-based applications using Apache Kafka

  • Familiarity with mainframe development and integration patterns between mainframe and distributed technologies

  • Experience in designing high availability API environments with clustering, failover/recovery and load balancing strategies
