A day in the life:
- You’ll be involved in the supervision and mentoring of junior and intermediate staff for environmental investigations, environmental monitoring programs, excess soil programs and hydrogeology studies that involve the installation of boreholes and monitoring wells, soil and bedrock collection and classification, specification, and review of field testing through industry standard techniques and protocols as required.
- You’ll manage projects of various scales and will be responsible for all aspects of project management including procurement, budget control, project schedule, supervision and coordination of field work as well as subcontractor and client liaison.
- You’ll develop work programs to solve environmental problems related to mine sites and commercial infrastructure.
- You’ll provide the technical expertise on groundwater and surface water sampling and monitoring programs involving the use field instruments/equipment (downhole data loggers, low flow sampling equipment and flow through meters to measure field parameters), and industry standard laboratory analyses methods as required.
- You’ll review project data and regulatory documents / reports, apply industry standard analysis methods to analyze and solve problems. Synthesize solutions where necessary and develop recommendations as required.
- You will act as a competent environmental practitioner in environmental monitoring programs for landfill and mining sites.
- You’ll participate in business development, meet with clients to discuss, and develop opportunities.
- You’ll collaborate with Ontario environmental professionals to execute business strategies and collaborate on multi office and multi-disciplinary projects.
- You’ll author and review proposals, technical briefs and deliverables for projects. Collaborate with staff and suppliers and contractors to develop competitive pricing for projects.
- You’ll foster and uphold a high standard of Health and Safety culture with all projects and staff, following WSP standards and guidelines.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Bachelors or graduate University degree in geological or environmental engineering, geoscience or geochemistry
- Have maintained a P.Eng. or P.Geo. license in good standing in the province of Ontario
- At least 8-10 years of related work experience
- You have excellent analytical skills and, written and oral communication (English) skills
- You have a desire to provide excellent practical client service and a commitment to technical excellence
- You are willing to travel occasionally to remote northern or out of province projects
- You have a strong working knowledge and experience with the Microsoft office platform (primarily Word and Excel
