Why this role is important?
Senior Director, New Business Development
Reporting to the SVP, Healthcare Businesses you will be responsible for the strategy and acquisition pipeline for pharmacy acquisitions for Shoppers Drug Mart stores and Loblaw Pharmacies across Canada. You will play a key leadership role in achieving our new business strategic growth plans in part by managing partnerships with external and key internal stakeholders.
What You will Do:
- Lead and direct the day-to-day activities of the Business Development team
- Identify and quantify all strategic acquisition targets with direct reports
- Work collaboratively and extensively with legal, real estate, finance, HR and operations through the deal cycle to ensure success of capital investment
- Negotiate parameters of all deals
- Resolve all deal issues as necessary
- Review legal documents, review of all financial valuations, identify risk attached to acquisition opportunities
- Develop key relationships with industry and internal stakeholders
- Present opportunities to VP, Pharmacy Planning and Pricing along with senior executive team
- Manage deal pipeline/flow/cycle
- Provide acquisition support to all pharmacy and adjacent business building activities
- Lead the annual acquisition planning and forecasting process
- Divestiture management, where/when applicable
- Manage the follow of communications with various stakeholders, IT, Compliance and Market Analytics teams
- Facilitate the activities of store integration resources
- Participate in pre-capital meetings, RE strategy sessions and site tours with senior leaders
- Travel as required
What You will Need:
- 7-10 years of relevant sales experience and/or Pharmacy acquisition experience
- Negotiation skills, ability to develop relationships quickly & persuade
- Ability to use sound judgement and analysis to arrive at recommendations or conclusions
- Ability to assess opportunities & identify synergies and risks to completing transactions
- Be a great, effective team player that is authentic, genuine and has strong communication skills.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management, cross functionally, and able to influence and gain alignment across various levels in the organization while collaborating closely with multiple Executives with competing priorities.
- 5-7 years’ experience in leading a team with direct reporting relationship through the lens of Blue Culture.
- Experience managing P&L and budgets.
- Proven track record in driving strategies to execution for strategic business priorities.
