The Role

The Senior Consultant, Partner Strategy and Business Development, will have broad reaching influence and impact, delivering advisory and planning support to the Strategic Partner business unit, contributing to optimal organizational performance. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning and Insights, this individual will facilitate the strategic partner planning process, ensuring alignment of the plan with partner, marketing, sales, financial and product plans. He/She/They will partner with functional stakeholders on the annual and quarterly business planning cycles, strategic programs, transformational changes, and organization optimization and effectiveness.

The successful candidate has a talent for grasping complex business challenges and developing tangible, workable strategies, programs and business cases. He/She/They will leverage their business acumen, analytical skills and resourcefulness with an ability to collaborate cross functionally. 

 

Organizational Interlocks

This role crosses multiple disciplines and the successful candidate will be confident operating in a high-paced environment involving direct interaction with the senior leaders (Director/VP/SVP) within the organization. This individual will work across all BBM Marketing functions, with a focus on the Strategic Partner and Business Development team as well as the Strategic Partner Operations team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic planning & alignment

  • Collaborate with strategic leaders to drive alignment to the corporate strategy – in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning and Insights.
  • Support partner strategy in the annual marketing planning cycle, ensuring Marketing’s goals are aligned with partner, sales and product objectives.
  • Lead ongoing strategic partner planning reviews with stakeholders, regularly adapting the plan to address market or business changes.
  • Work closely with Senior Manager, Strategic Planning and Insights, to clarify priorities and deliverables for the partner organization, and communicate accordingly.
  • Create a partner performance measurement framework to improve key functions, programs and joint strategies.
  • Support coordination of strategic partner participation and content creation for executive business reviews.

 

Program management

  • Support strategic partner initiatives and programs including:
    • Creation of business cases, ensuring prioritization and resource allocation within the organization.
    • Tracking of ongoing progress and risk.
    • Any new initiatives required to improve strategic partner performance or business optimization.
  • Development and management of work-plans to coordinate cross-team activities.
  • Embed appropriate change management, communications, enablement & governance into the strategic partner program architecture, championing use of standardized templates and platforms.

 

Facilitation & workshop management

  • Implement and drive necessary governance across the strategic partner organization (incl. reviews at Marketing Senior Team Meeting, cross-functional partner cadence etc.).
  • Design and lead working sessions with extended team and senior business leaders to drive the desired results & outcomes.
  • Credibly & effectively communicate and present to senior executives.

 

Skills & Competencies required:

  • Advanced analytical and creative problem solving skills with the ability to map strategy to planning and tactics.
  • Results oriented with experience establishing metrics, KPIs and accountability to ensure successful outcomes across multiple disciplines.
  • Collaborative team player with high energy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic, innovative and creative with a strong business acumen.  
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing measurement data from business systems.
  • Familiarity with complex sales and product lifecycles and their respective pressures on the organization to drive demand and revenue.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Marketing, or a related area. MBA is an asset.
  • 5+ years B2B Marketing experience, ideally in an integrated, data driven planning or consulting capacity.
  • Previous wireless and telecommunications experience is preferable.
