The Real Estate Financing and Capital Markets team is responsible for all financing matters within the company. In this role, you will work in an international, multi-currency environment with diverse financing products (Corporate, Banking, CMBS, Private Bonds) and different types of properties (Shopping Centers, Offices, Multi-Residential, and Logistics). As a member of the Real Estate Financing and Capital Markets team, your main role will be to research, negotiate, and obtain financing to support investment teams and optimize the management of the existing portfolio. You will work closely with investment teams, internal and external partners, and financial institutions to ensure the availability of necessary funds, maximize returns, and minimize risks in the company's real estate portfolio.
Transactional
Identify, propose, negotiate, and structure financing proposals tailored to investment teams that meet risk, return, and capital allocation requirements;
Represent the company in meetings and negotiations with financial partners;
Manage the complete financing application process, including needs analysis, proposal preparation, term negotiation, and transaction closure;
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and stakeholder requirements.
Portfolio Management:
Manage and develop relationships with active lenders, adopt proactive approaches, and gather market intelligence useful to the team;
Review, optimize, and implement the overall financing strategy aligned with the company's objectives;
Negotiate strategic partnerships with financial institutions to ensure continuous fund availability and favorable conditions;
Regularly analyze and assess the performance of the real estate portfolio;
Identify financial optimization opportunities such as loan restructuring, renegotiation of financing terms, and refinancing strategies;
Develop action plans to improve profitability, reduce risks, and maximize portfolio returns.
Process Optimization
Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment, promote knowledge exchange, and encourage professional growth of team members;
Identify recurring manual tasks that can be automated using AI, such as financial data analysis, report generation, or document preparation;
Evaluate existing processes related to real estate financing and identify areas that can benefit from automation and integration with Power BI;
Collaborate with IT teams to implement selected solutions and ensure seamless integration into existing operations;
Develop AI models to assess risks, predict investment performance, and make informed decisions based on in-depth analysis.
The skills of success
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Finance, Accounting, or any other related discipline. A graduate degree in Finance or any other related discipline is an asset;
Professional designation such as CA or CFA is an asset;
6 to 10 years of relevant experience in the field of financing or real estate investment;
Proficiency in Excel and Power BI software;
Strong interest in computer science in general and specifically in artificial intelligence software;
Strong interpersonal skills, dynamism, organization, autonomy, and precision;
Team spirit and a strong desire for continuous quality improvement;
Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written French and English. Oral and/or written interactions with external partners based outside of Quebec (service providers, law firms, peers, bankers, brokerage firms, credit analysis firms, credit agencies, etc.).
