The Senior Analyst is responsible for developing and executing key financial functions within Automotive Finance, specifically for Scotia Dealer Advantage (SDA). This includes month-end processing, monthly management reports, internal control review, clearing account reconciliations, tax calculations, monthly reasonability analysis as well as assisting Manager, Pricing and Analytics in completing the annual plans, monthly/quarterly forecast, and annual corporate tax returns. This role is focused on providing timely and accurate reporting of results to all stakeholders and requires a high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills. The Senior Analyst reports to Manager, Pricing and Analytics.
 

Accountabilities

•    Prepare monthly journal entries (prepaid, amortization, accrual, and other month-end entries)
•    Ensure integrity of financial data and reporting systems 
•    Perform the month-end reconciliation process (e.g. bank clearing accounts)
•    Prepare monthly Operating Expense Management report by department for SDA management
•    Work closely with SDA Operations team to ensure all entries are posted properly
•    Prepare and provide annual tax returns with all related data to BNS taxation for review and submission
•    Oversee maintenance of reports/spreadsheet applications used to extract information from the various systems to provide critical management information and analysis 
•    Provide ongoing support to Manager, Pricing & Analytics
•    Manage ad- hoc projects as requested by SDA management or other teams within the Bank

 

Education, Experience & Functional Competencies
•    Undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance, Professional accounting designation is an asset
•    Minimum 3-5 years work experience in the finance and accounting area
•    Good knowledge of general accounting and finance (Canadian GAAP)
•    Strong knowledge and practical experience with MS Office Suite specifically Excel 
•    A highly proactive attitude, takes initiative and has analytical skills
•    Systematic approach to problem solving
•    High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
•    Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to work under tight time constraints when required
•    Ability to work independently and exercise good business judgement
