As a Senior Advisor International Taxation in the Taxation department at National Bank, you’ll work closely with your colleagues in the Taxation department, the Accounting department, Legal Affairs and stakeholders in other business units. This job allows you to have a positive impact on the organization being responsible for the tax compliance of the Bank’s and its subsidiaries’ international activities, including transfer pricing.

Your role:

  • Help the Senior Manager, International Taxation execute special projects involving foreign affiliates or including an international taxation component
  • Work with your colleagues to ensure adequate financial disclosure of tax expenses for the Bank's and its subsidiaries' international activities
  • Revise the information required for tax compliance related to the group’s foreign affiliates and complete all relevant information returns (T106, T1134, RC4649)
  • Ensure the Bank's and its subsidiaries' compliance concerning one-time transfer pricing documentation
  • Help create processes to compile information for the implementation of Pillar 2 rules
  • Calculate, document and track tax accounts and tax consequences relating to the group’s foreign affiliates and participate actively in international tax audits
  • Participate actively in improving processes by making suggestions and implementing improvement and automation solutions

Your team:

Within the Taxation department, you are part of a team of 20 colleagues and you report to the Senior Manager, International Taxation. The team support its partners in achieving their business and financial goals, contributing to the Bank’s results and financial soundness. As a Senior Advisor International Taxation, you assess and inform stakeholders of Canadian taxation requirements and options affecting the Bank’s and its subsidiaries’ foreign operations, particularly in terms of tax compliance. You advise partners and offer solutions adapted to their needs to help them carry out the Bank’s foreign activities. You also help create, implement and apply international taxation policies, standards and procedures and contribute to improving/automating processes while innovating how we carry out the work.

Basic requirements:       

  • Have a professional CPA designation
  • Master's degree in taxation
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in tax compliance
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax systems for foreign affiliates
  • Sound writing and documentation skills
  • Rigour, diligence and initiative
  • Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively
  • Ability to work independently and good analytical and summarizing skills
  • Ability to proactively propose new ideas and continuously strive to perfect your knowledge
  • Agility and ability to adapt in a context of process transformation
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing rules (an asset)
  • Automation skills (an asset)
