The finance team - Ivanhoe Cambridge's Corporate Services Accounting team
The Corporate Services Accounting team is responsible for the financial integration of Ivanhoé Cambridge’s global investment transactions and plays a key role in establishing relationships with the various outside partners responsible for producing financial information. The team also monitors the financial aspects of the Company’s holding entities and business offices around the world. They help fulfil statutory financial and management reporting requirements and manage the JDE accounting and financial consolidation system.
The Corporate Services Accounting team is part of the broader Corporate Finance unit, which encompasses the Transactions and Accounting Standards, Consolidation, Accounting Operations and Strategic Procurement teams, all of which work closely together to produce financial information of the utmost quality and accuracy in order to support high-level decision-making.
Join a team of passionate people
You will work closely with the experienced professionals who make up the Corporate Services Accounting team. As part of your duties, you will interact regularly with the Legal Affairs, Taxation, Cash Management and Treasury teams as well as outside partners responsible for producing financial information. You will also provide your insights, advice and comments on a variety of topics, including those related to the following duties:
Review and analyze financial data;
Develop tools and procedures to ensure an innovative approach to processes and analyses.
More specifically, you will:
Ensure the proper accounting of designated holding entities and investments, market value (IFRS), including the steps enabled by robotic process automation (RPA), and currency conversion for the purpose of producing quarterly and annual financial reports for the Company and its subsidiaries;
Validate all financial data provided by outside partners for assigned investments and structures;
Contribute to the process of producing strategic analysis at the end of each quarter;
Coordinate processes related to capital contributions and distributions for complex holding entities, including completed e-transfer requests for accounts payable, review of entries in the accounting system, preparation of solvency checks and review of legal documentation from the Legal Affairs team;
Prepare statutory financial statements (legal, tax-related and statistical reports) for designated holding entities within specified timeframes;
Assist in preparing the Company’s audited financial statements and participate in the annual audit process;
Respond to managers’ and advisors’ accounting enquiries with regard to investment transactions or the internal restructuring of holding entities;
Review the monthly banking reconciliations prepared by the Accounts Payable team;
Take part in special projects as assigned;
Ensure the implementation of established internal controls.
The toolbox we are looking for
Three or more years of relevant experience;
Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA designation;
Knowledge of the accounting aspects of financial consolidation and currency conversion;
Strong analytical skills and a talent for processing and interpreting information;
Prioritization and multitasking skills; ability to work independently and perform under pressure;
Talent for communication, teamwork and collaboration;
Confidently innovative, creative and comfortable challenging the status quo;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including in-depth knowledge of Excel; familiarity with JD Edwards, an asset;
Fluency in written and spoken French and English; ability to work with documentation written exclusively in English (transaction paperwork, accounting reports, annual reports, newspaper articles, studies, market research, etc.).
