What you will do:

The Groups & Events department is currently recruiting for the position of Sales Manager, Calgary. We are looking for a passionate, driven, and self motivated professional to manage both inbound and outbound sales; making The Rec Room Calgary Deerfoot and Cineplex Theatres the go-to destination for business meetings and events.

You are an experienced salesperson who enjoys breaking new ground, finding new accounts and helping clients reach their event goals. You are a multitasker and a team player who is equally comfortable prospecting for new business as you are with developing deeper sales relationships with existing clients. 

Superior interpersonal skills are a must as you will liaise daily with venue management teams throughout your region to ensure proper execution of your client’s events. Previous experience in event management and hospitality is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business through effective territory management, targeted prospecting and attendance at relevant events

  • Maintain regular contact with current accounts to maximize repeat business

  • Cultivate a culture of sales and service excellence and a drive for continuous improvement among the theatres in your assigned region

  • Develop and deliver sales presentations at client meetings, tradeshows and industry events

  • Negotiate and prepare proposals and contracts

  • Work with clients on the planning of their events from inception to follow-up post event

  • Build relationships and effectively communicate with clients and venue teams to ensure exceptional execution on client expectations

  • Manage and maintain account information, contracts and sales reporting through CRM and other reporting tools with an emphasis on being accurate, thorough and current.

  • Participate in sales and regional operations meetings

  • Limited travel within Canada

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of sales and service experience in a B2B environment

  • Previous hotel, theatre, convention or unique venue sales experience will be advantageous

  • Previous Event Management experience preferred

  • Post-secondary education required

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Self-motivated and driven to deliver on targets

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively in a busy multi-location environment

  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities to tight timelines

  • Exceptionally organized and detail oriented

  • Superior negotiation and problem solving skills
