In this dynamic engineering role, you will work with the East Coast Subsurface Development Team, including other engineers and geoscientists, to provide technical analysis to support the ongoing operations and investments within the East Coast region of Canada. The East Coast Subsurface Development Team is dedicated to advancing subsurface activities for long-term projects at Terra Nova and our non-operated Joint Venture assets, including White Rose, Hebron, and Hibernia. Our focus encompasses reservoir enhancement, optimizing existing developments, and planning for future growth.This role will be primarily Terra Nova focused; an oilfield located 350 kilometers southeast of St. John’s. This is a mature field with late life asset challenges and significant remaining development potential. It requires innovative thinking and the application of emerging technologies to advance new projects and maximize field recovery.
Minimum Requirements:
- Five years of oil and gas experience with a focus on offshore reservoir engineering; however, less will be considered.
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Registered or immediately eligible to register as a professional engineer or engineer-in-training through PEGNL.
- Understanding of key reservoir engineering principles.
- Exposure to reservoir simulation and development planning.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with intermediate to advanced skills.
- Experience with data analytics / visualization (Microsoft PowerBI) and programming (Python) is a plus.
- Strong collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups.
Responsibilities:
- Complete technical reservoir and economic analysis of incremental investments in existing assets
- Evaluate potential growth opportunities
- Evaluate and optimize existing pool performance
- Undertake fluid characterization and well test analysis
- Collaborate with geoscientists to build and maintain reservoir simulation models
- Potential to support all of Suncor's East Coast assets (Terra Nova, White Rose, Hibernia, and Hebron)
- Contribute to digitalization and simplification initiatives
- Support oil and gas reserves evaluations
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our St. John’s office, located at 130 Kelsey Drive
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
- Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
